2019 Mineral Collector Symposium Show Notes Aug 29 Written By August 29, 2019 Tim and Holly HAM it up at Rob’s party Just look at this emerald city scape. I can just see Dorothy and Toto running along the matrix singing “we’re off to see the wizard” We think these two could be on the cover the GQ best beards edition, don’t you? Long time mineral and gem stone expert and purveyor of excellence, “Burma” Bill Larson The young mineral collectors strike again Another new favorite in the Dr. Rob Lavinsky China Collection is this Calcite after Crab pseudomorph Nice Cameo from a mineral gazing Rick Ely In this shot of Marshall and Charlotte at the Arkenstone party Charelle and Jim Gibbs, never have two finer people graced one photo. Farrar and Brian make the scene Christopher and Dacques A high caliber collector and a gentlemen. The man, the myth, the legend! Charelle with Ely’s and Wally Mann Elmwood combo on Rob’s 1000 case Mineral ambassarors, Craig and Trudy Marc and Janis looking splendid The Saxaphone? Blake, Bob, Dan The copper tree from Milpillas Evan and Phil Hang 10!!……errr 8! Ashtyn and Forrest A bargain from the Tom Hall Collection Monica is very busy all weekend, including this shot we call “bacon and email for breakfast” Jolyon hard at work Charelle, Kevin and the Freidman’s Gary and Rose looking dapper One is young mineral collector, the other not so much….;-) Pretty Jeffrey Mine Vesuvianite at Robs Off to the Spann Party We Go A favorite in the Jim & Gail Spann Collection, this Euclase with Apatite on white matrix is a stunner. Another of my all time favorites from the Spann party is their Brichantite from Milpillas Mary Fong Walker hosts a “birthday” party to honor Rock Currier and his legacy before the auction on Monday. One of the signature specimens in the rock currier auction was the “skunk” amethyst plate. This juicy bit from Tiger Arizona went for a final bid of 80,000. Throw in buyer premium and you have a cool six figure specimen. This excellent and large Azurite rose from Bisbee stole many hearts, but the piece came home to a Houston collection! One of the finest and most rare gem crystals in the Currier auction, a sea foam green phosphophylite came home to a Houston collection! My favorite rock at the Currier Auction. Snowflake Cerrusite from Tsumeb.
